Zarah is the youngest of my late cousin Neil and Sandra’s (#471) three children. She’s eleven here. She was really young when her father died - I wonder what she thinks about when she thinks about him. Her middle name is pronounced the same way as my younger daughter’s first name, but it’s spelled differently. It’s a middle eastern name, popular in predominantly Muslim countries. My wife and I couldn’t care less about that - we just liked how it sounded. She (and her siblings, of course) are a black/Indian racial mix; the Trinidadian term for such a mix is dougla. I wonder if that’s now considered derogatory back in Trinidad.
